With the first quarter of 2025 now behind us, the Aramis project has made significant progress. The permitting process is proceeding according to plan, and we remain fully committed at every stage to ensuring the quality and safety of the CCS infrastructure. It is truly impressive to see how this driven team tackles every challenge head-on, and I have every confidence for the rest of the year!

Value engineering is a targeted approach to improving efficiency, sustainability and cost-effectiveness. But it is also a collaborative process that requires fresh thinking and innovative problem-solving. Structural Engineer Lead Vikram Bhati discusses the team effort that went into redesigning part of Aramis’ offshore CO₂ distribution platform, the D-HUBN.

On 5 March, Wopke Hoekstra, the European Commissioner for Climate, Net Zero and Clean Growth, visited the Dutch House of Representatives to discuss the Clean Industrial Deal, which the European Commission published on 26 February 2025. Hoekstra described the package as a potential game-changer for the EU in terms of climate policy, clean industry and strategic autonomy. However, the package has only a limited focus on carbon capture and storage (CCS).

At first glance, the Aramis tender process may seem like a straightforward procurement exercise: selecting the right suppliers and signing contracts. In reality, however, it’s a meticulous procedure that requires full transparency and impartiality at every stage — and it takes months.
